F.A.Q. LM6000 Aeroderivative gas turbine
The LM6000â„¢ industrial gas turbine, widely utilized in power generation and mechanical drive applications, is based on advanced aerospace-derived technology. It includes a complex assembly with multi-stage compressors, an annular combustor, and both high- and low-pressure turbines connected by a central shaft that also drives the generator.
FIB Industries supports this model by manufacturing essential components such as Bleed Air Collectors, TRFs, exhausts, and inlets, contributing to the turbine’s enhanced performance and reliability.
The key difference between the LM6000 and LM2500 gas turbines lies in their design and power capabilities. The LM6000 features a two-shaft design that is adapted from aerospace technology and is used primarily in power generation. It incorporates a five-stage low-pressure compressor and a 14-stage high-pressure compressor. In contrast, the LM2500 has a single-rotor gas generator and is known for its single-shaft design. It includes a 16-stage compressor and is typically aerodynamically coupled to a power turbine, making it the most widely used gas turbine in the 25-37 megawatt power category.
he cost of an original LM6000 gas turbine can vary widely based on specific model variations and configurations, as well as whether it is new or refurbished. Generally, the price range for a new LM6000 can fall anywhere from several million dollars, often between $10 million to $30 million or more, depending on the specific setup and additional services or equipment included.
The LM6000 gas turbine models are compact and efficient, measuring 193.5 inches (4.9 meters) in length, 85 inches (2.16 meters) in width, and 81 inches (2.05 meters) in height, with a weight of 16,340 pounds (7,411 kilograms). This size allows for generating substantial power within a relatively small space.
Aero-derivative gas turbines are primarily used in electrical power generation for their rapid start-up, shut-down, and load handling capabilities. Additionally, they are employed in the marine industry to minimize weight, enhancing efficiency and performance.
